Deaton is a multiple-event thrower for the Ohio State track and field program. In 2016, as a sophomore, Deaton recorded personal bests in the discus throw (45.37m), hammer throw (53.48m) and weight throw (18.39m). She took gold in the hammer throw at the 2016 Ohio Open, and bronze in the discus throw at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite. Deaton is a two-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honoree.
